Tarak Ridge The good weather forecast over the weekend made the hike ideal and giving us a go. Tarak Ridge and Tarak Peak are one of the famous hiking spots in Bataan. It is considered a major hike with difficulty 4/9 requiring 5 – 6 hours trek from Brgy. Alas-asin in Mariveles, its jump off point. The ridge stands at 1,006masl and the peak at 1,130 masl. The hike can be done for a day but overnight climb is more desirable, giving you more time to appreciate its beauty. ****
The night is cold and colder during dawn. Make sure that you have your jacket, sleeping bag and covers you need to keep you warm.

At 4am, everyone started to get up and wait for the sunrise. And oh dear, nobody hates it. It’s always magical and fulfilling to watch. God is good to have these beautiful creations. We headed uphill to see the Tarak Peak. The pathways are rocky with exposed trail at first and then a continuous assault. There were vantage points perfect to snap your photos and enjoy the superb views. The peak is more or less 30-minutes away from the ridge.

SAMPLE ITINERARY OF OUR D.I.Y HIKE Day 1 0500 Board Genesis or Bataan Express bus lines to Balanga, Bataan (P120) 0800 ETA Balanga; take mini-bus to Brgy. Alas-asin (P40) 0930 ETA Alas-asin; register at Brgy. Hall (P20) 1000 Start trek 1300 ETA Papaya river; lunch 1330 Papaya river; set up camp 1500 FREE TIME (swiming,socials,walwalan) 1730 prepare for dinner 2000 Lights out Day 2 0400 Start Trek 0600 ETA Tarak Ridge (await the sunrise) 0700 Explore the summit (there is a mossy forest there, photo ops) 1200 ETA Papaya river 1000 Back at jump-off point. 1100 ETA Balanga via minibus.
**** HOW TO GET THERE? From Cubao bus station, an average of 3 – 4 hours travel time should be allotted to Brgy. Alas-asin Mariveles, Bataan. Hikers should pay for Php 40/head registration fee. Tour guide is optional. In case of emergency, you may text or call the response team officers ******

SPECIAL CONCERNS Transportation. There used to be ferry service between CCP Complex and Orion, Bataan but as of 2007 this service may have been phased out. The route of choice is land, by bus going straight to Brgy. Alas-Asin from Manila. To avail of this, go to the bus terminals of Genesis and Bataan Transit at Dorroteo Jose (near LRT station). As of May 2008, fare costs P237. LUKONG VALLEY FARM 🌿 DOLORES, QUEZON PROVINC Lukong Valley Farm ( Click videi here!)   Lukong Valley Farm is located at Dolores, Quezon. The view is quite relaxing and great for camping. Food is not allowed here but they have a small restaurant that promotes preservative-free courses of meals. You can prepare less than 300.00 pesos if you are from/within the area of San Pablo City, Laguna. Visiting this place is perfect during BER months. The entrance fee for a day tour is just Php50/pax. It is irrefutably a bargain. Foods are surprisingly inexpensive. You have to order beforehand, as they have to allocate some time for food preparation. We ordered inihaw na liempo and three plain rice for Php 300. That amount also includes our entrance fees. Since they offer cooked foods, the farm has dining areas.
